Micro-teaching

 

We had our practicum at the Faculty of English for Specific Purposes (ESP), where FTU’s core values are clearly demonstrated in practice. One example of this is the faculty’s commitment to Innovation and Excellence, reflected through the use of modern facilities, including projectors, whiteboards and lecturers’ interactive websites, which create a comfortable and dynamic learning environment. These resources support student engagement and active learning and show lecturers’ flexible use of innovative technology in their teaching. A notable example is Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh’s A2-level English class, where students enthusiastically participated in classroom discussions, responding confidently often in English to questions posed by the lecturer. Despite being at a lower proficiency level, students showed strong communication skills and confidence, indicating that ESP lecturers are effectively nurturing students’ progress toward Excellence, particularly in terms of language proficiency and interactive competence.

Additionally, in Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Ha’s B1+-level English class, where we had the opportunity to conduct our teaching, students demonstrated a high level of confidence and active participation. They willingly volunteered to answer questions posed by us, the student teachers, indicating not only their comfort with using English as a means of communication, but also their growing autonomy as learners. This engagement reflects the success of ESP lecturers in creating a supportive learning environment that encourages students to apply their language skills in authentic, communicative contexts, further reinforcing FTU’s core value of Excellence in education.
